The Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) will adopt a new answer script booklet and introduce new techniques in examining answer booklet for the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate Examination next year.

The HSLC examination will be held from February 17 to March 7 next year.

The BOSEM has introduced this system for the first time in the history of matriculation examination in Manipur.

Speaking to reporters in Imphal on Monday, BOSEM chairman Th Kirankumar said new changes in terms of registration of students, answer booklets, answer examiners and examination will be introduced this time apart from introducing online registration for filling up of forms for appearing in the examination.

The BOSEM will assist schools which need help in carrying out the online registration process to end the last minute rush of registration.

Thus the training for online registration will be started from November 26, he said.

The registration of the students will be held from December 1 to 23, 2019 without monetary fine and with fine it will be till January 5, 2020 after which the online registration will be closed.

Appealing to ensure for timely completion of registration, BOSEM chairman said this time in the examination a new booklet in portrait format with lined paper and margins will be used instead of landscape booklet with blank paper.

For mathematics the answer sheet will be blank with graph sheet attached as a part of the answer booklet.

These changes has been made to ensure the students that their answer sheets are safe unlike in the past when extra sheets for graphs and maps were made to tie to the main booklet with a thread.

He also pointed out that for subjects with different branches such as the Sciences and Social Sciences having three branches – Biology, Physics and Chemistry and History, Geography and Civics & Economics, the answer booklet for these subject branches will have separate booklets attached together in one booklet.

Name of each subject branches will be printed on each and every answer sheet of the booklet.

In previous years, the students tend to mix the answers of these branches of subjects as the booklets were not separate.

As a result during answer correction, splitting of answer sheets according to subject branches became a problem.
