Guwahati: Manipur Police have arrested three individuals affiliated with the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) for their involvement in extortion activities targeting businesses and individuals in Imphal.
Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended two members of the KCP (Taibanganba) faction identified as Yumnam Arvind alias Mangangcha Singh (21) and Oinam Rakesh Meitei alias Chingshangamba (20).

Both individuals, residents of Manipur’s Bishnupur District, are accused of extorting money from private schools, hospitals, and brick kilns in and around Imphal.

The arrests occurred during a raid conducted in the Imphal West district within the past 24 hours.

During the operation, police recovered two mobile phones, two Aadhaar cards, Rs. 3370 in cash, and a four-wheeled vehicle from the suspects’ possession.

These arrests follow the apprehension of Thokchom Iboyaima Singh alias Boyai (42).
Singh, an active member of the KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) faction, was also involved in extorting money from businesses and individuals in the Imphal area.
The police have registered cases against all three individuals, and further investigations are underway.
