Manipur health & family welfare minister L Jayantakumar Singh has said the State Government is putting all out effort to combat and contain COVID-19 pandemic in the State.
Minister Jayantakumar was speaking at a function held at the office of Medical Directorate, Lamphelpat, Imphal on Thursday for handing over of Bolero Ambulance for Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts respectively.
The minister said the present government acknowledges the inconveniences faced by the people of the State.
The government is facing shortcomings in management towards fulfilling all the requirements and demands put up by the public.
Stating that the government is committed to find suitable solutions for any new problem related to COVID-19 pandemic, he also said that the two ambulances one each for Kamjong and Kangpokpi is handed over as second phase.
There are more numbers of such ambulances ready for distribution to other remaining districts on priority.
This initiative will at least ease some of the problems being faced by the district health department specially located in the hilly districts, he added.
He said considering the increase of COVID-19 cases in the State, the government is thinking of introducing a dedicated COVID hospital in the state at UNACCO School, Meitram, Imphal West district.
Logistics and other required initiatives have been taken up for the purpose, he added.
Phungyar Assembly Constituency MLA K Leishiyo while attending the function said that Kamjong district being a newly created district is one of the most backward districts in the State bordering with Myanmar. People of Kamjong district have been facing problems of transportation within the district since the condition of intra district roads still remain bad besides being topographically hilly terrain.
He said that there is necessity for establishment of a full-fledged District Hospital and a modernised police station at Kamjong.
He also maintained to improve medical facilities in Kamjong during this pandemic hour.
MLA Leishyio also lauded Minister Jayantakumar for the initiative of providing an Ambulance and converting Primary Health Centre Kamjong to Community Health Centre.
Director Health, Dr K Rajo Singh, additional directors, deputy directors and health staff of the medical directorate were also present during the occasion.
