One Assam Rifles jawan sustained splinter injuries after a camp of the paramilitary force near Minuthong in Manipur’s Imphal came under grenade attack on Wednesday night.
Suspected insurgents lobbed a China-made hand grenade at the Assam Rifles transit camp at North AOC in Imphal, resulting in injuries to the jawan.
The Assam Rifles jawan who sustained injuries has been identified as Bimal Rai.
Bimal Rai was on sentry duty at the main entrance of the transit camp when it came under attack.
Biman Rai sustained splinter injuries on his left hand and was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital at Leimakhong.

Although the incident is suspected to be an insurgent attack, no outfit thus has claimed responsibility of it.
Meanwhile, Imphal West Police has started an investigation into the attack.
Notably, this transit camp of the Assam Rifles in Imphal had come under similar attacks even in the past.
