Kakching: In a significant security operation, a combined team from the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police uncovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and other warlike materials in the Kharungpat wetland and Bijang hill range on Friday, according to a statement from the defense wing.
The operation, initiated based on precise intelligence reports about the presence of weapons in the Kharungpat wetland area of Kakching district, commenced early Friday morning.

The joint cordon and search effort resulted in the discovery of a carbine machine gun, a .303 bolt action rifle, five grenades, various types of ammunition, and additional warlike stores.
Simultaneously, in the Bijang Hill Village area of Kangpokpi district, the joint team conducted another successful operation.
They recovered a 9 mm pistol, two single-barrel bolt action rifles, three 36-hand grenades, three rounds of improvised mortar ammunition, and other warlike materials.

All recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police for further investigation.
However, no arrests were made during the operations, as per the official statement.
