Guwahati: The Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) on Sunday claimed responsibility for the alleged abduction of the plywood factory manager in Thoubal, Manipur.

The RPF claimed they awarded punishment to Sahit Farukh Jama, 42, for allegedly harassing a woman and attempting to rape her.

On Friday night, Sahit Farukh Jama, 42, the manager of PBS Plywood factory, and Nungsithoi Devi, 27, a female worker, were reportedly abducted from the factory restroom.

The following day, the state police rescued Jama, who had sustained a bullet wound on his leg, from the Thokchom Mamang Hills area.

Adding another layer to the story, the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF), the political wing of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), issued a statement claiming to have punished Jama for attempting to rape a female worker at the factory.

Meanwhile, police launched a search and rescue operation for the abducted woman, Nungsithoi Devi.

They were able to locate and rescue her in the Charangpat area of the district.

Police have registered a case regarding the abduction, and investigations are ongoing to determine the exact sequence of events and identify those involved.
