Imphal: India’s top wushu athlete Naorem Roshibina Devi advanced to the women’s Sanda 60kg final at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Wednesday, assuring herself of at least a silver medal.
Roshibina booked her place in the gold medal bout, scheduled for September 24, after defeating Macao’s Chu Man Sin 5–0 in the quarterfinals. Her victory also secured India’s first confirmed wushu medal at the ongoing Games.
The Arjuna Awardee has now become the first Indian wushu athlete to win medals at three consecutive Asian Games. She previously won bronze at Jakarta 2018 and silver at Hangzhou 2023.
Following her achievement, the Manipur Police congratulated Roshibina, who serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the department, and extended its best wishes ahead of the final.
The department said Roshibina’s journey from Kwaksiphai in Manipur to the Asian Games podium has been a source of inspiration for young people and the police force. It also expressed support for her ahead of the gold medal contest.
