RDA of RIMS launched their cease work agitation from Sunday onwards in protest against the assault of three doctors in the casualty department of the medical institute on Saturday.

The decision to end the cease work strike was taken up following an understanding between the doctors and other concerned parties.

“The Resident Doctors Association of RIMS has decided to call off their agitation and start resuming casualty services from 4 pm of March 26,”said Medical Superintendent Prof Ch Arunkumar of RIMS in a press release which was made available late night at around 10 pm.

“The casualty service of RIMS hospital was closed due to assault of the treating doctors of RIMS in the casualty department,” the statement read.

This follows the action taken by police and the redressal of the demands submitted by the RIMS Resident Doctors Association.

It said that RIMS authority and Resident Doctors Association regretted the inconveniences caused to the patients and health care services.

It is also stated that in the event of any violence or abuse of doctors of RIMS in future it may lead to attracting the provision of Manipur Medicare services personnel and Medicine service institutions (Prevention of violence and Damaged to property) Act 2015 (Manipur Act No. 3 of 2016).
