Manipur on Monday reported 116 new COVID 19 positive cases including 42 central armed police force (CAPF) personnel, taking the state’s overall tally to 5,362.

In the past 24 hours, 74 persons including 25 male and 15 female from the general population and 42 from CAPF, were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, the COVID19 Common Control Room said in a press release.

The cases were confirmed at VRDL (Virus Research & Diagnosis Laboratories) of RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences), JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences), JNIMS RAT, Raj Medicity, Babina Diagnostics Centre, Imphal East, Churachandpur and Thoubal.

Three persons out of the general population are returnees from other states whereas the rest 71 are locals without any significant travel history, the release said adding that they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

It further said all necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Meanwhile, 97 more patients have recovered in the past 24 hours.

With these recovered cases, the recovery rate of the COVID19 positive cases in Manipur reached 69.24% on Monday.

The recovered cases are from CAPF and other COVID care centres of the state, as per the latest data available with the state health authority on Monday.

Out of the state’s total COVID19 positive cases, so far 3,713 patients have recovered from various COVID care centres in the state.

“The number of active cases is 1,627,” the release added.

There was no report of COVID19 death on Monday.

The cumulative number of deaths is 22, the release said.

The state reported its first death due to COVID19 on July 29.
