Manipur on Saturday recorded the highest ever single-day tally of 426 COVID19 cases, bringing the state’s total tally to 15,141.
In the last 24 hours, 416 persons from the general population and 10 personnel from Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, said COVID19 common control room in a press release on Saturday.
The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 25 testing facilities in the state.
The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West(181), Imphal East (124), Thoubal (24), Jiribam ((1), Kamjong (5), Kangpokpi (2), Tengnoupal, Ukhrul (5), Kakching (3), Chandel (3), Tamenglong (26), Churachandpur (19), Tengnoupal (7), Senapati (1) and Bishnupur, the release said.
A total of 12 persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history, it said, adding they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 2 persons including an 82-year-old male and 63-year-old female expired at Shija Hospital and Jivan hospital respectively, it said.
The cumulative number of deaths is 111.
In the last 24 hours, 198 persons were discharged from 18 COVID care facilities after they were found COVID19 free on RT PCR test, it added.
The cumulative number of positive cases is 15,141 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,587 and 11,443 respectively, it added. The recovery rate is 75.57%.
So far 4,10,729 people were screened at various entry points of the state while 3,18,036 samples were tested for COVID19, according to the latest official reports.
The state health department also appealed to self isolate and contact COVID control room or chief medical officer for testing if anyone has contact with a positive person saying, “Together, we can break the COVID chain.”
