Five more patients in Manipur succumbed to COVID-19 on Friday, taking the state’s overall death tally to 109.

Among the deceased, three are from Imphal East district and one each is from Thoubal and Tamenglong districts.

Meanwhile, 304 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Manipur on Friday.

Of the new cases, 304 cases (184 are males and 120) are from the general population while 33 are Central Armed Police Force(CAPF) personnel.

The new cases were confirmed at 24 testing facilities including RIMS (16) and JNIMS(136) in the state.

The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (55), Imphal East (113), Noney (1), Thoubal (7), Bishnupur (9), Chandel (20), Churachandpur (9), Senapati (12), Kangpokpi (3), Kakching (33), Tengnoupal (15), Tamenglong (19), and Ukhrul (8).

Eight persons out of the general population are returnees from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the past 24 hours, 164 persons were discharged from 15 COVID care facilities after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test.

The cumulative number of positive cases is 14,715 while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,361 and 11,245 respectively.

The recovery rate is 76.41 per cent.
