With 252 new COVID19 positive cases and two more deaths, the total number of COVID19 cases in Manipur increased to 11,649 on Saturday.

In the past 24 hours, 228 persons (138 male,90 female) from the general population and 24 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases, said COVID19 Common Contol Room, Imphal in a press release on Saturday.

The new COVID19 positive cases were confirmed at 18 testing facilities including RIMS and JNIMS in the state.

The positive cases from the general population have been reported from Imphal West (52), Imphal East (94), Noney (14), Thoubal (14), Kakching (6), Senapati (1), Kangpokpi(3), Bishnupur (1), Churachandpur (26), Jiribam (2), Ukhrul (5), Chandel (5), Tengnoupal (2) and Tamenglong (3), the release said.

One person from Churachandpur is a returnee from other states while the rest are locals without any significant travel history, it said adding they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

Two females, aged 68 years and 46 years, both from Churachandpur district, expired at home and Covid Care Centre, Lanva TD Block respectively, the release said adding that the cumulative number of deaths in the state is 71.

Meanwhile, 89 more persons were discharged from ten COVID care facilities in the state, it added.

The cumulative number of active cases is 2,497 while the recovered cases have reached 9,081, it added.

The recovery rate is 77.95%.

As of Saturday, a total of 3,89,494 persons were screened at various entry points of the state while 2,50,089 individuals were tested for COVID19 at various testing centres in the state, official sources said.
