Imphal: Manipur police have recovered a cache of sophisticated weapons and stolen vehicles following a special operation conducted in the northern parts of Imphal city.

This operation comes in the wake of a shooting incident that left a 26-year-old man injured.

On July 12, Wakabam Nelson Singh was shot in the leg by unknown assailants along Lamphel Sanakeithel road in Imphal.

In response, police conducted a special operation in Khuyathong Polem Leikai and Nagamapal areas.

The operation yielded a significant haul, including one Excalibur Rifle (7.62 mm AR (GHAATAK)) without a magazine, one MA-3 MK-II Rifle with a magazine loaded with 14 live rounds, two stolen four-wheeler vehicles and one stolen two-wheeler vehicle.

The police are yet to identify the perpetrators or the motive behind the shooting.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.

The investigation is ongoing.
