During the operation, Manipur Police recovered a total of six vehicles stolen from outside the State from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts.

Imphal: Manipur police, with the assistance of Delhi police, have busted an inter-state vehicle theft racket and arrested one of the most wanted vehicle lifters, along with six vehicles stolen from outside the State, the Manipur police morning report issued on Tuesday stated.

Based on specific inputs received from Delhi Police, Manipur Police conducted a coordinated operation against the inter-state vehicle theft racket, the report stated.

During the operation, Manipur Police recovered a total of six vehicles stolen from outside the State from Churachandpur and Imphal West districts.

They conducted the operation with assistance from the Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India (ICICI), Lombard Insurance Company, and technical support.

Manipur Police have handed over the recovered vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, to the concerned police stations following due legal procedures, and are coordinating with the originating states for recovery formalities, the report stated.

In a related development, based on a requisition from the Crime Branch, Delhi Police, a joint team of Manipur Police and the Central Reserve Police Force Sector Quick Action Team (CRPF Sector QAT) arrested Md. Juma Khan (39) of Yairipok Bishnunaha.

The accused is a wanted offender in multiple serious cases and has been identified as a key player in the inter-state vehicle theft racket.

The report added that various efforts are underway to locate and recover other stolen vehicles from different areas of the State as part of the ongoing operation.
