Manipur: Police arrest PREPAK-PRO cadre and activist for extortion

Imphal: The Imphal East district police in Manipur said that it arrested two individuals linked to the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive (PREPAK-PRO).

A female active cadre and a male activist were apprehended during an operation by Imphal East district commandos, a statement said.

The duo was allegedly attempting to extort money from civilians in the district.

Police recovered Rs. 35,000 in cash, a Honda Activa scooter, three mobile phones, and a wallet from the arrested individuals.

The accused were identified as Salam (N) Lourembam (O) Bembem Devi (age 42) and Kangabam Sanatomba Singh alias Amuba (age 49).

Both individuals are currently in police custody at the Imphal East district police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
