Guwahati: A joint team of the Assam Rifles and Manipur police commandos arrested one alleged abductor and rescued a kidnapped youth in an operation in Thoubal district.
One 9 mm Pistol (Country) with 7 rounds of live ammunition and a two-wheeler vehicle used in the abduction has been recovered from the abductor, the police said on Monday.

The personnel of the 33 Assam Rifles and commandos based on intelligence input on the presence of the abductor in an area of Waithou, initiated an operation.
The operation resulted in the arrest of the alleged abductor later identified as Md Sharif Khan @ Masten (28) from Waithou, Thoubal District on Sunday at around 9 pm.

The victim namely Md Amir alias Boboi, 24, of Lilong Chngjao village of the same district was rescued.
The rescued youth was later handed over to his father namely Md Habibur Rahaman.
Police said that the accused along with the seized items were handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
