Imphal: Security forces arrested an alleged cadre of the National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) during an operation in Bishnupur district.
According to security officials, the arrested person was identified as Khwairakpam Doren Singh (42) of Upokpi Mayai Leikai under Bishnupur police station. A mobile phone with SIM card and a few arms were seized from his possession.
In separate operations carried out over the past 24 hours, security forces also recovered contraband drugs, arms and explosives from Tengnoupal and Chandel districts.
Two soap cases containing 0.078 kg of brown sugar and 10 plastic packets of World Is Yours (WY) tablets weighing 12 kg were recovered from the Tengnoupal IVR area under Tengnoupal police station. A four-wheeler was also seized during the operation.
In Chandel district, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from Khangtung village under Molcham police station.
The recovered items included a 7.62 K-09 assault rifle with magazine, four single-bore rifles, a Mauser-style sporting rifle, a shotgun, an SMG with magazine, a pistol with magazine, four pompis, three grenades, three detonators, five Baofeng radio sets, 28 rounds of ammunition of different calibres and five 12-gauge cartridges.
Officials said the arrested cadre and the seized items were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
