Probe into the grenade attack outside the Manipur Raj Bhawan on January 19 will now be conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The Country’s top investigating agency reportedly has taken over probe after preliminary investigation revealed that the attack was carried out on the orders of Myanmar-based commanders of United National Liberation Front (UNLF).

The NIA has registered a case under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), explosive substances act and attempt to murder charges.

On January 19 at around 4:30pm, two motorcycle borne insurgents had lobbed a China-made hand grenade at the security personnel stationed at the main entrance of the Raj Bhawan.

Fortunately, no casualty or injury was reported in the attack.
Later, Manipur police arrested three persons in connection with the case, all having links with the banned UNLF.
