Assam: Congress leader ‘attacked’ by BJP workers on camera in Golaghat

A local Congress leader in Assam’s Golaghat was allegedly attacked by workers of the BJP.

The incident allegedly took place during recording of a debate show for a news channel at Khumtai constituency in Golaghat.

A video is doing the rounds in the social media with allegations of the local Congress leader being attacked by BJP workers.

In the video, a mob of unruly “BJP workers” were seen verbally and physically assaulting the local Congress leader, who represented his party in the debate show.

Allegations are doing the rounds that “unruly mob” are close associates of sitting BJP MLA from Khumtai – Mrinal Saikia.

The incident has been condemned by Arunachal Pradesh Advocate General Nilay Dutta.

“Has the Chief Electoral Officer Assam read a document called Model Code of Conduct? Isn’t it his duty to get the same enforced? Knowing the concerned gentleman, I expected something better this election,” Nilay Dutta said.
