Imphal: Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly circulating misleading information on social media regarding the place of death of a member of the Naga community, officials said on Wednesday.
Police identified the accused as Louriyam Ajitkumar Singh from Motbung Mamang Leikai, currently residing at the Lamboi Khongnangkhong Relief Camp.
According to reports, Singh operated a Facebook account titled “L. Ajit Singh,” where he posted highly provocative content, including threats and calls for violence that could disturb public order.
The false post alleged that Ramkan Chalamva, son of Ngalengpam Chalamva of Theiva village, was murdered in Kangpokpi by Kuki militants. However, police investigations revealed that Chalamva was found dead on April 14, 2026, in Mantripukhri, Imphal.
Family members identified the body, and a case has been registered at Heingang Police Station to investigate the actual cause of death.
Police reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to incite violence or disrupt communal harmony.
