Imphal: Security forces arrested five insurgents in a series of coordinated operations across Manipurโs border districts over the past 36 hours, while also recovering a cache of arms and war-like stores, officials said on Wednesday.
The operations were carried out by Manipur Police in coordination with central forces, including the Border Security Force (BSF), in the general area of T. Bongmol under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal district, along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Two of the arrested persons were identified as Salam Yaima Meitei, 19, a self-styled lance corporal of the proscribed Peopleโs Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Progressive), and Wakrambam Rahul Meitei, alias Malemnganba, 19, a self-styled sepoy of the outlawed Peopleโs Liberation Army (PLA). They are residents of Bishnupur and Imphal West districts, respectively.
In a separate operation, joint teams recovered a concealed cache of arms and war-like stores in Kamjong district, which borders Myanmar to the east.
Additionally, three more insurgent cadres linked to PREPAK (Pro) and the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup were apprehended in coordinated operations across Thoubal, Tengnoupal and Kakching districts. Mobile phones and foreign currency were seized from their possession.
All the arrested persons, along with the recovered items, have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation, officials added.
