Imphal: Police in Manipur arrested an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-Noyon) on Sunday.
Leisangthem Naobi, alias Yogen Meitei, 31, was allegedly involved in recent kidnappings, extortion campaigns, and possession of stolen property.

Police apprehended Naobi from a hideout in Imphal-East District’s Khuman Pali road. They seized two mobile phones, Rs. 73,100 in cash, and a stolen car without a registration number.

Police linked Naobi to the February 14 abduction case of three individuals – Md Alimuddin, Md Abdul Latif Tampakmayum, and Mairembam Johnson – from Phubala, Bishnupur District.

He allegedly participated in extorting money from residents, particularly in Imphal City, over the past few months.

Following the abductions, public agitations erupted in southern Manipur, prompting police raids and investigations.
After apprehending Naobi, police continue searching for his accomplices.
He has been forwarded to judicial custody.
