Imphal: Central security forces and Manipur police commandos on Friday arrested an individual allegedly linked to the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Apunba) and recovered a communication device during an operation in Imphal West district.
The police reported on Saturday that the arrested individual has been identified as Khaidem Ajitkumar Singh (25), also known as Adison and Abai, a resident of Heinoupok Maning Leirak under Lamphel PS, Imphal West district.
He was apprehended from his locality, and several documents along with a mobile phone were seized from him.
He is accused of being associated with the KCP Apunba group, an underground outfit seeking the sovereignty of Manipur.
The police further stated that security forces continue to carry out search operations and maintain area domination in fringe and vulnerable locations across the districts.
A total of 114 nakas/checkpoints have been set up across different districts of Manipur, including both hills and valleys; no detentions were reported.
Movement of 218 vehicles carrying essential supplies along NH-37 has been ensured. Strict security measures are being enforced at all vulnerable points, and security convoys are provided on sensitive stretches to guarantee the free and safe movement of vehicles.
