Imphal: Central security forces and Manipur Police commandos arrested three insurgents, including an active cadre of the Group of Five (G-5), an alliance of proscribed outfits, in separate operations in Imphal East district on Thursday, officials said.
In an operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Peopleโs Revolutionary Party of KangleipakโProgressive (PREPAK-Pro), which is part of the G-5 alliance. The arrested individual was identified as Yumnam Panchayaiphaba Meitei, also known as Yaikhomba (30), a resident of Nongada Awang Leikai under Lamlai police station in Imphal East district. He was apprehended from his residence, and a mobile phone was seized from his possession.
The Group of Five (G-5) is an alliance of five banned insurgent outfits comprising the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), Kanglei Yawol Kanba Lup (KYKL), Peopleโs Revolutionary Party of KangleipakโProgressive (PREPAK-Pro), and the United National Liberation Front (Koireng group).
In a separate operation, police arrested two active volunteers of the banned Kangleipak Communist PartyโMilitary Council Progressive (KCP MC Progressive) from the Palace Gate area under Porompat police station in Imphal East district.
The arrested persons were identified as Akhom David Singh alias Atomba (24), a resident of Ngangkha Lawai Maning Leikai under Moirang police station in Bishnupur district, and Potshangbam Johnson Singh alias Abungo (25), a resident of Moirang Khuthekpi under Moirang police station in the same district. Both were currently staying at Khumbong Khaidem Awang Leikai under Patsoi police station in Imphal West district.
Two mobile phones were seized from their possession. Officials said further investigation is underway.
