Corcom, a body of six major insurgent groups from Manipur, have called for a shutdown in the state on Independence Day.
However, the insurgent outfits have said that essential services would be exempted from the purview of the shutdown.
Notably, most of the insurgent outfits from the Northeast have announced boycott and shutdown on Independence Day.
The shutdown will start from 1am on August 15 and will continue till 6:30pm.

The Manipur Government has directed the police and the paramilitary forces deployed in the state to beef up security ahead of the Independence Day.
Security has been beefed up in all the sensitive areas across Manipur to prevent any untoward from taking place in the run-up to Independence Day.
Troopers from the Assam Rifles, Manipur Rifles and other security agencies are assisting the state police in cordon and search operations.
Raids are being carried out in all places “where the insurgents may be lying low”.
