The Assam Police has rescued a girl child, who was kidnapped from Dhemaji district in the state by a drug dealer. 

The girl was rescued by the Assam Police from the jungles in Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh’s East Siang district on Thursday morning.

The development was confirmed by Assam DGP – Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta. 

The accused has been identified as Arjun Pegu, a notorious drug dealer.

“Drugs turn people into monsters. These monsters spare none- even little ones! Dhemaji witnessed it yesterday,” said Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said. 

The rescue operation was carried out by the Dhemaji Police in coordination with the Pasighat Police.

After rescuing, the police handed over the girl child to her parents.
