Imphal: A team consisting of Manipur Police and India Army personnel recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition along with explosives on Wednesday.
A statement by the defence wing on Thursday stated that the cache of arms and ammo was recovered from abandoned sites of armed miscreants in Imphal East.

Acting on specific intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Sabungkhok Khunao-Chanung ridge near Sabungkhok village of Imphal East, the Indian Army along with Manipur Police launched a joint search operation.
The operation resulted in the recovery of four improvised long-range mortars (Pompi), one 9mm pistol, one 7.65mm pistol, two .303 rifles, ammunition, and three grenades.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of Imphal East district police, and the Indian army.
The seized items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further proceeding, the statement added.
