Manipur Government continues to distribute PDS rice under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) to the beneficiaries of the State to ensure uninterrupted supply of food grains, specially rice, during the ongoing lockdown to contain outbreak of COVID-19, official sources said.
For smooth continuation of such distribution, allocated PDS rice for April, 2020 under PMGKAY and Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS) for several Assembly constituencies in the State are being lifted from FCI Godowns located at different parts of the State, according to a DIPR Manipur report.
A total quantity of 1437.26 quintal of rice under OMSS procured under MLA Local Area Development Fund was lifted for different ACs in Imphal East District on Monday.
The lifted rice consisted of 305.20 quintal for Khurai A/C, 511.60 quintal for Yaiskul AC and 620.46 quintal for Wangkhei AC.
There was also reports on lifting of 1852.95 quintal of rice under PMGKAY and 476.95 quintal under OMSS for Bishnupur AC,the report said.
In Thoubal District, 2165.65 quintal of rice (2051.30 under PMGKAY and 114.35 under(OMSS) allocated for Wangjing Tentha AC and 582.20 quintal of rice under OMSS allocated for Wangkhem AC was lifted Monday.
Stating that there was also reports on distribution of rice in the district i.e. 1358.60 quintal under PMGKAY and 582.20 quintal under OMSS to the beneficiaries of Wangkhem AC and 1.5 quintal of rice under OMSS was also distributed to the migrant labours at Wangjing area of the district,it said the Jiribam District, also reported lifting of 861.50 quintal of rice allocated for Jiribam AC under PMGKAY from FCI godown located at Jiribam on April 20.
Kamjong District also reported lifting of 679.9 quintal of rice under PMGKAY allocated for Phungyar AC on the same day.
Similarly 3683.95 quintal of rice for Tadubi AC under PMGKAY was lifted in Senapati District. There was also lifting of 961.35 quintal of rice under OMSS for Non-National Food Security Act beneficiaries.
In Kakching District, 6762.74 quintal of rice under PMGKAY allocated to four ACs- namely Sugnu (409.50 quintal), Hiyanglam(628.19 quintal), Kakching(765.50 quintal) and wabagai(1959.55 quintal) was lifted on April 20,the report added. A total of 1870.90 quintal of rice under OMSS allocated for Wabagai AC (526.15 quintal), Hiayanglam (620.70 quintal) and Sugnu (724.05 quintal) was also lifted. For Moreh Block in Tengnoupal AC, 160.85 quintal of rice under PMGKAY was lifted from FCI godown, Tangjeng at Thoubal.
In Imphal West District too, 124 quintal of rice under OMSS was distributed on April 19 covering 1263 households,it further added.
