Imphal: The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly constructed school building of Pou Shankar Kane Vidyalaya in Hougailong, Tamenglong district.
The building was constructed with funding from the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER. The Vidyalaya was established in 2009 under the initiative of the Purva Seema Vikas Pratishthan (PSVP).
Addressing students, teachers, and dignitaries virtually, the Governor expressed happiness at being part of the occasion. Although adverse weather prevented his physical presence, he extended his heartfelt wishes to all.
The Governor commended the PSVP for its dedicated efforts in promoting education, social development, and harmony in the remote border regions of the state. Highlighting the school’s progress, he noted its transformation from a kuccha tin-roof structure in 2022 to a modern, permanent building. He termed this journey a testament to perseverance and collective resolve.
The Governor appreciated the North Eastern Council, Shillong, under the Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, for supporting the new infrastructure. He also congratulated the teachers and parents, expressing hope that Pou Shankar Kane Vidyalaya would emerge as a centre of excellence and inspiration.
Ravindra Acharya, President and Council Member, DES, Pune University; Adv. Pradeep Kadam, President, PSVP; and Jaywant Kondvilkar, Secretary, PSVP Trust, along with teachers and students, attended the ceremony.
