The Manipur government has launched an e-government receipt accounting system (e-GRS) portal to allow the public to pay taxes and fees from any place at any time.

This will allow people to pay taxes in a hassle-free manner.

The portal was launched in Imphal in the presence of Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday.

One can log into the Manipur government’s official website ‘egrasmanipur.nic.in.’ to avail the e-GRAS services.

However, the payment of taxes and fees through manually filled challans will continue for another two months for public ease.

People will also be able to pay the taxes across a bank counter with an electronically generated challan.

In the initial stage, the public will be able to make the payments by using the various payment gateways of the State Bank of India (SBI).

The state government will gradually expand the service to other banks as well.

Payment of professional taxes (PT) and value added tax (VAT) will be made available on e-GRAS, though more services will be available on it in the near future.

“To facilitate the general public to pay fees, taxes and anytime-anywhere payment for Government services online e-GRAS ( e-Government Receipt Accounting System) portal is launched today at my office. The e-GRAS services will be available on https://egrasmanipur.nic.in,” N Biren Singh tweeted.
