Imphal: Indiaโs security forces apprehended four foreign nationals, along with contraband drugs and two China-made Kenbo bikes, near the Myanmar border in Manipurโs Churachandpur district on Monday.
According to a Manipur Police bulletin released on Wednesday, the arrests and seizures took place at Bualkot village under Behiang police station.
Acting on intelligence inputs regarding drug traffickers from Myanmar arranging deals with counterparts at a secluded location, a joint operation was conducted by the Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), and Manipur Police.
In the first operation, personnel intercepted two motorcycles and apprehended two Myanmar nationals at Bualkot village, recovering 22 soap cases containing heroin.
They were identified as Thangsawmung (56) and Kamkhenmung (56), both residents of Chikha village in Myanmar.
Further operations led to the arrest of two more Myanmar nationals, identified as Jhonmung Suanlian (31) and Haukhul (55), also from Chikha village, at Behiang village. They were found in possession of 44 soap cases of suspected heroin.
All four foreign nationals and the seized contraband were handed over to the police. An FIR has been registered at Behiang Police Station under the Foreigners Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, for further investigation.
