Chajing bomb blast
The interrogation of previously arrested cadres led to additional arrests during three phases of operations conducted at the targeted insurgentsโ€™ hideouts over the past three days.

Imphal: A joint team of central and state police in Manipur arrested four more cadres of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party – Apunba (KCP Apunba), reportedly involved in the bomb explosion incident at Lilong Chajing area under Singjamei Police Station, Imphal West district.

The state police reported that with these arrests, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to seven. Concerned officials are working closely with various state police forces to track and apprehend every member of the insurgent cadres involved in the blast.

During the third phase of the operation, Laimayum Nelson Sharma (20) of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak under Lamphel-PS, Imphal West district, was arrested from his residence.

Chingkheinganba Wahengbam (20), also known as Chingkhei of Sagolband Wahengbam Leikai, Imphal West district, was arrested from Imphal airport. Laithangbam Robert Singh (32), also called Abu of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, Imphal West district, was arrested from the Minuthong area, Imphal West district.

From their possession, two mobile phones, two Aadhaar cards, one wallet containing Rs. 260, and two number plates bearing MN 01AK 3615 were seized.

In the second phase of the operation, the joint team arrested Sagolshem Johnson Singh, also known as Pandum or Nongshaba (32) of Langjing Achouba Awang Leikai, Imphal West district, from the Narankonjin Makha Leikai area under Wangoi-PS, Imphal West district.

The arrestee was reportedly involved in intimidating authorities of Catholic schools in the Imphal area to admit students. From his possession, three mobile phones and one side bag were seized.

The first phase of the anti-insurgency operation in this bomb blast case led to the arrests of Laishram Bulu Singh (39) of Chana Mayai Leikai, Lamlai-PS, Imphal East district, and Puyamacha David (22) of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai, Imphal West district.

The duo was arrested together from Watham Leirak Crossing under Imphal-PS, Imphal West district on February 8, 2026. Ningthoujam Chalamba Singh (29) of Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai, Imphal East district, was arrested from Khewa Bazar under Porompat-PS, Imphal East district on February 9, 2026.

From their possession, a four-wheeler Maruti Gypsy with RC No. MN01AK 3615, one .45 pistol with magazine and 17 rounds, three mobile phones, a wallet containing Rs. 220 and an Aadhaar card, along with other incriminating items, were recovered.

The joint operations followed a grenade explosion at the residential courtyard of an Executive Engineer of the Manipur government located at Chajing Mamang Leikai, under Singjamei Police Station, Imphal West district, on Sunday evening.

Soon after the blast, police rushed to the site, inspected the area, and registered a case to initiate investigation and anti-insurgency operations.

The accused have been taken into custody for legal proceedings. Officials are working closely with various state police forces to track and arrest every remaining member of the insurgent cadres involved in the blast.
