Imphal: Flash floods have damaged low-lying areas in Manipurโs Churachandpur district headquarters, leaving several residents facing hardships over the past two days, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar on Friday visited flood-affected areas of the district to assess the damage caused by flash floods that have been affecting the region since Thursday evening.
At Kerith village, which was inundated by the overflowing Khuga River, the Deputy Commissioner provided immediate assistance to affected families. He later visited L. Lhangnomphai village in the Tuibong block to provide further relief.
As part of the relief efforts, Kumar distributed bags of rice, packets of dal, potatoes, cooking oil, onions and other essential items to affected families.
During his interaction with residents, he assured them that the district administration would continue monitoring the situation and provide all possible support, including immediate relief assistance through the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Seiminthang Lenthang, SDO Churachandpur Thienlaljoy Gangte, SDO Tuibong Jangminlen Lupho and other line staff.
