IMPHAL: A massive fire erupted at Thangmeiband in the Imphal West district of Manipur, completely destroying a semi-pucca house and causing property damage worth lakhs of rupees on Sunday (Many 26) night, according to a report from the Manipur Fire Services, Imphal head office, released on Monday (May 27).

The fire is believed to have originated from a short circuit and was exacerbated by the explosion of two gas cylinders, which led to the destruction of the wooden portions of the house.

The house belonged to Konsom Memcha, a resident of Thangmeiband Loureung Purel Leikai in Imphal, Manipur and the fire broke out around 10 PM on Sunday (May 26).

Four fire tenders from the Imphal head office fire service station, led by Inspector Joymati, responded promptly to the incident.

However, the fire had already caused extensive damage to the house, with almost all the wooden structures being badly affected.

However, the firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring areas and houses.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported as the residents managed to evacuate the house immediately after the fire started.

A fire service official stated that a team from the head office is currently assessing the extent of the property damage caused by the devastating fire.
