Imphal: A high-level delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI) visited Manipur’s Bishnupur district on Friday to review the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the photo electoral roll.

Led by ECI Deputy Director P. Pawan and accompanied by Social Media Executive Devansh Tiwari, the delegation held a detailed review meeting with District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam, along with the district’s Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).

During the meeting, DEO Pooja Elangbam presented a comprehensive report outlining the district’s demographic profile, staff training, distribution of Enumeration Forms, and the rationalisation of polling stations. P. Pawan lauded the administration’s efforts and stressed the importance of proper documentation.

He also directed officials to strengthen response mechanisms to counter misinformation and ensure the accuracy and credibility of the SIR-2026 exercise.

Following the briefing, the ECI delegation, accompanied by EROs and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) from the Moirang and Thanga Assembly constituencies, conducted field visits.

They visited the Chingu Thangjing Guest House Relief Camp in Moirang, where they interacted with internally displaced persons (IDPs) to ensure their inclusion in the electoral roll revision.

The team also visited polling stations in Thanga and Karang, where they reviewed the ongoing enumeration process with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to ensure the electoral exercise remains robust and inclusive.
