Imphal: Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen has called for a firm stand against violence and urged collective action toward a peaceful, secure, and prosperous society in the state.
Kipgen, a Kuki leader elected from the Kangpokpi Assembly constituency, in an official statement, appealed to all communities to exercise utmost restraint and uphold peace.
The appeal came a day after retaliatory clashes broke out between armed groups reportedly belonging to two warring communities, the Nagas and Kukis, resulting in the loss of three lives at Mullam village in Ukhrul district.
โViolence does not offer solutions; it only deepens wounds, erodes trust, and stands as a major obstacle to progress, development, and lasting peace,โ she said. โWe must reject hatred and retaliation and instead come together in unity to rebuild and move forward.โ
She added, โThe senseless violence unleashed by armed miscreants has devastated homes, destroyed property, and left many innocent civilians injured, including women and children. Such barbaric acts against unarmed villagers are not only inhumane but also a direct assault on the very fabric of our society.โ
Condemning the incident, she said, โI am deeply anguished and unequivocally condemn the brutal and cowardly attack carried out today at Mullam village in Ukhrul district.โ
She extended her deepest solidarity to all the victims and affected families in their hour of grief and suffering. โThe pain of those who have lost their homes, security, and peace is profoundly felt,โ she stated, adding that she stands firmly with every affected individual, especially women and children who have borne the brunt of this tragedy.
