The Manipur government is opening Covid Care centres in the state in view of the surge in infections.
An exclusive Covid Care centre will be opened for women in the Bal Bhawan at Khuman Lampak in Imphal.
This centres was opened last year during the pandemic, but was shut down after cases began to decline in the state.
Another similar centre will also be opened at a youth centre in the same locality exclusively for male Covid-19 patients.
The Manipur government is now concentrating on intensified vaccination especially among youths as the mutant strains of Covid-19 have been seen to infect more people in the younger age groups during the second wave.
Chief minister N Biren Singh also recently took stock of the oxygen plant at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal that is supplying oxygen to patients admitted in the Covid wards of the hospital.
