Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on April 17 embarked on a road journey to Ukhrul district as part of ongoing outreach efforts aimed at strengthening coordination with remote communities and addressing key infrastructure concerns.

Making his first stop at Shangkai village along the Imphalโ€“Ukhrul road, the Chief Minister interacted with local residents. Women from the Kuki community raised concerns over the lack of reliable drinking water and sought urgent intervention. Singh assured them that the issue would be taken up on priority upon his return to Imphal.

Accompanied by MLAs and senior officials, Singh later visited Thawai Kuki village, where he was received by a large gathering of residents. During the interaction, villagers highlighted challenges related to road connectivity, water supply and access to healthcare services. The Chief Minister reiterated the governmentโ€™s commitment to improving basic infrastructure and said the concerns would be addressed on priority.

In a statement shared on social media, Singh said the government remains focused on ensuring the delivery of essential services across all regions and reaffirmed its commitment to equitable development.

He is scheduled to hold meetings with Tangkhul community leaders and district officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, at the DRDA conference hall.

The visit will also include an inspection of an ongoing rigid pavement construction project and the inauguration of the Shirui Heritage Project at Shirui village. The Chief Minister is expected to conclude the tour after a meeting with local stakeholders.
