Imphal: The Manipur Government has strongly condemned the dastardly terror act in which armed miscreants fired upon a group of civilians on Wednesday morning between the Kotlen and Kotzim areas in Kangpokpi district, resulting in the deaths of three innocent civilians and injuries to four others.

Out of those injured, three were rushed to Shija Hospitals and Research Institute in Imphal for medical treatment.

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, along with Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho, Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam, MLAs, and other government officials, visited the injured to inquire about their well-being at Shija Hospitals in Imphal West.

The Chief Minister stated that the state government will bear all medical expenses for the injured and has directed authorities to ensure they receive the highest standard of care.

โ€œThis act of violence is deeply troubling and devastating not only for the families but for the entire state, as it disrupts our path to peace,โ€ the Chief Minister stated.

He added, โ€œThe state is gradually moving towards peace; therefore, actions that undermine this collective effort of our people to restore normalcy are unacceptable. Terrorism and senseless acts of violence that target innocent civilians and threaten peace and humanity have no place in a civilized society.โ€

โ€œThere is no justification in any society for acts of terrorism in any form. The entire state and its people stand together against such acts of terror, and our resolve to fight against terrorism is unshakable,โ€ the Chief Minister further said.

In his statement, he added, โ€œI am deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of precious lives due to such acts of violence. I appeal to all sections of society to uphold peace, show restraint, and refrain from emotional responses. Further, I urge people to immediately stop abductions, hostage-taking, and intimidation along community lines, as these can only aggravate the situation.โ€

โ€œI assure the people that we will use every resource of the state to bring the perpetrators and their handlers to justice. I pray for the peace of the departed souls and a speedy recovery for the injured,โ€ he added.

Meanwhile, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen also strongly condemned the deadly attack, describing it as a โ€œcruel and heartbreaking act of violenceโ€ that has left the region in mourning. In a statement, she said she was deeply pained by the killing of the civilians.
