Jhulon Yatra, which symbolizes the romantic fervour of Radha and Krishna, was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) in Imphal with the showcasing of Nupa Pala and Nupi Pala by students of the academy.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, chairman of Chorus Repertory Theatre, Imphal, Ratan Thiyam said that organizing such an auspicious programme is very essential and it is a part and partial of promoting and preserving the unique art and culture of the State.

He also said that it is about time to think collectively and bring out concrete measures that will help in nurturing the budding artistes of the State in such a way that their artistic skills could reach the national level.

He also urged the people to extend their support in promotion of art and culture of State, and appealed to the people who are working in the field of art to take concrete steps towards documentation of work done by the skilled artistes of the state as a treasure for future generation.

He further said that with time many distinctive customs and tradition of the State are dying.

However, he lauded the efforts of JNMDA in its contribution towards maintaining the customs and tradition gifted by ‘our forefathers’.
