Manipur VB-GRAM G scheme

Imphal: The Government of Manipur has announced that the Viksit Bharat โ€“ Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-GRAM G] Scheme will come into effect across the state on July 1, 2026.

The rollout follows a formal notification in the Manipur Gazette pursuant to a recent Cabinet decision.

In an official statement, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated that, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modiโ€™s vision for Viksit Bharat @2047, this landmark initiative will benefit rural households across all 16 districts of Manipur by providing a guaranteed 125 days of wage employment annually.

The announcement follows a Cabinet meeting on June 15, 2026, chaired by the Chief Minister.

During the meeting, the Cabinet approved the notification to rename the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) as the Viksit Bharat โ€“ Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-GRAM G), Manipur.

This aligns with the nationwide transition, as MGNREGA will be known as VB-GRAM G across India starting July 1.

The Cabinet also deliberated on key matters concerning state administration and governance.

According to a social media post by the Chief Minister, several important decisions were approved to enhance administrative efficiency and strengthen public service delivery.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Chief Minister Khemchand wrote, โ€œOur Government remains committed to ensuring effective, transparent, and people-centric governance for the welfare and development of Manipur.โ€ He later reiterated on his Facebook page, โ€œThe Government remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening livelihood security, generating sustainable employment opportunities, and advancing inclusive rural development for the welfare and prosperity of the people of Manipur.โ€

The high-level meeting was attended physically by Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Art & Culture Minister Khuraijam Loken.

Deputy Chief Ministers Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho joined the deliberations virtually from Kangpokpi and Senapati, respectively.
