The Assam Rifles troops deployed in Manipur nabbed an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) outfit.
While sharing a picture of the apprehended cadre of KCP on its official Twitter handle, the Assam Rifles said the operation was carried out on Friday.

The operation was successfully carried out by the Maram Battalion of Assam Rifles.

The operation was carried out on the basis of intelligence input, Assam Rifles said.

“ASSAM RIFLES APPREHEND KCP CADRE IN MANIPUR
Maram Battalion of #AssamRifles, on 17 Sep, based on an intelligence input, apprehended an active cadre of KCP in Maram Bazar, Senapati District, Manipur,” Assam Rifles tweeted.
The KCP cadre was later handed over to the Senapati Police for further legal proceedings.
Kangleipak Communist Party is a banned political party in Manipur.
The party is named after Kangleipak, the ancient name of Manipur.
It was initially led by the communist ideologues — Ibohanbi and Ibopishak.
The Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) has been engaged in an armed struggle to achieve sovereignty for Manipur since the 1980s.
