Acting on intelligence input, 3 Assam Rifles Battalion personnel from Moreh initiated a cordon and search operation. However, they were ambushed by the insurgents, triggering a 30-minute firefight.

SC Sahu, a 34-year-old jawan, sustained injuries during the exchange of firing. He was evacuated to Shija Hospital in Imphal for medical treatment.

While the extent of insurgent casualties remains unclear, additional Assam Rifles forces have been deployed to the area to conduct a massive search operation.
