Manipur: Forces recovered arms & ammo during rescue operation in Jiribam

Imphal: In the ongoing operation to rescue six persons allegedly abducted by militants, a joint team from the central and state forces has recovered another cache of arms and ammunition in the Jiribam district of Manipur.

The operation comes after six individuals were allegedly abducted while ten militants were eliminated at Jakuradhor Karong in the same district on November 11.

The team following specific input about the presence of six persons held captive by anti-social elements launched the operation at Champanagar village under the jurisdiction of the Jiribam police station in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Thursday.

Though no individuals were rescued in the area they managed to recover two double barrel 12 bore guns, one 2-inch mortar, 36 live barrel cartridges, and five empty barrel cartridges from an abandoned camp at Champanagar.

The recovered items were later been handed over to the Jiribam police station for necessary investigation.
