Imphal: The Manipur Police recovered two stolen vehicles in a targeted operation in southern Tengnoupal district over the past 36 hours, officials reported on Monday.

According to the police, the joint efforts of the Anti-Vehicle Theft Squad and police stations, including Imphal and Tengnoupal, led to the recovery of the stolen property, although no arrests were made.

โ€œThe operation was conducted as part of a district-wide special drive to combat rampant motor vehicle thefts and was also based on complaints from various vehicle owners in the region,โ€ an official said.

Acting on a tip, the joint team carried out the operation at a location in Tuisen Village under the Machi police station in Tengnoupal district. During the operation, they successfully recovered two vehicles that had been reported stolen from other areas.

The recovered vehicles include a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 with registration number MN01AR-8324, and a Honda Activa scooter which did not have a registration number.

The Manipur Police stated that this operation has helped solve two major cases of vehicle theft in Tengnoupal district, although the culprits are still at large, evading capture.

Authorities added that the formal process to return the recovered vehicles to their rightful owners has already begun.

The crackdown against motor vehicle thieves will continue to be intensified, and further investigations into these cases are ongoing.
