Normal life in Imphal was affected by the 14-hour strike imposed by sand miners starting from 4 am on Thursday.
The strike was called by the All Manipur Excavator, Local Truck, Tipper Owners and Workers Association (AMELTTOWA).
The strike was called protesting the court order against sand mining, which the court said affected nature.
The agitating members, however, said that if done properly then mining doesn’t affect nature.
The court imposing the ban has affected their source of livelihood, the protesting miners said.
Due top the strike, normal traffic and business were hit hard.
Several students could not attend their schools and had to skip the ongoing examinations.
