Guwahati: A total of 13 Civil Social Organisations accusing the Manipur government of being “ineffective” in protecting the lives and properties of the people called for a 24-hour lightning shutdown with immediate effect across the state from 6 pm on Tuesday.

Nahakpam Santa, coordinator of the 13 CSOs while speaking to the newsmen at Imphal said that the shutdown will conclude at 6 pm on Wednesday.
The Coordinator accused the state government of failing to take proper action against the armed militants who had killed the innocents at will and set ablaze several houses in different vulnerable areas across the state during the past few days.
Nahakpam Santa also demanded the state forces work in the rescue operation of 6 missing persons in the Jiribam district.

He also alleged that the state government has failed to take proper action against the killing of a housewife at Saiton village under the Bishnupur district recently.
The shutdown will not cover the emergency services including media, water supply, electricity, medical and religious ceremonies.
The CSOs included International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) AKOMLUP, Kanglamei, Pandam, Meekal, etc.
