Around 10.5 lakh children in Manipur will be dewormed on Monday on the occasion of National Deworming Day.

The objective behind the exercise is to prevent parasitic worm infection among the children and accordingly albendazole tablets will be provided to children between the ages of 1-19 years.

Manipur has been observing deworming day since 2016 and like the previous years, the government is all set to observe the day in a befitting manner.

Health department officials informed that those who can’t come on Monday, they would be administered deworming tablets on February 17 in the respective Anganwadi and public health centres.

“Unregistered or out-of-school children will be dewormed at Anganwadi centres whereas school-going children will be administered in their respective schools,” officials said.

The tablets will be provided in both government and private schools at free of costs.
