Putting all speculations to rest, former Manipur Congress president Govindas Konthoujam has joined the BJP. 

Govindas Konthoujam, who recently had quit the Congress in Manipur, on Sunday joined the BJP in New Delhi. 

The formal induction of the former Manipur Congress chief into the saffron party took place in a ceremony amidst the presence of a host of senior central BJP leaders and state leaders. 

Manipur chief minister Biren Singh, Manipur BJP president Sharda Devi, Manipur BJP in-charge Sambit Patra among others were present in the joining ceremony.

After joining the BJP, Govindas Konthoujam said that a number of senior Congress leaders in Manipur are also mulling to join the saffron party. 

Earlier last month, Govindas Konthoujam had resigned as Manipur Congress chief.

Govindas had cited personal reason for his decision to quit the party.
