Unknown miscreants hurled bomb and opened fire at the house of a senior police officer at the India-Myanmar border town of Moreh in Manipur. 

The house of Premjit – Deputy officer in-charge of Moreh police station came under attack of unknown miscreants late on Saturday evening at around 9pm.

The officer’s wife and his eight-year-old son sustained injuries in the attack and were admitted to the Moreh Public Health Centre (PHC). 

Later, the mother-son duo was shifted to an Imphal hospital for further treatment.

Senior police officials rushed to the crime site and an investigation has been launched into the attack. 

Meanwhile, no insurgent outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. 

Attack at the residence of a senior police official in Manipur has sent shockwaves across the state.  

Drugs mafia is suspected to be behind the gruesome attack as the Manipur police has been acting tough against drug cartels in the state.

Moreh is also the transit route for illegal drugs smuggling from neighbouring Myanmar into the Northeast states of India.
